Terms of service
Plain-language summary of the deal between you and Swapz. This is a demo build and not a substitute for reviewed legal terms.
1. What we do
You send us physical items. We inspect, photograph, grade and store them, and we record you as their owner. You can transfer that ownership to other users through trades. We are a bailee — we hold your property, we don't buy it from you.
2. Ownership and custody
You keep ownership of everything you send until you trade it away. When a trade settles, ownership transfers to the other party immediately and irrevocably. Physical possession stays with us throughout.
You warrant that you own everything you send, that it isn't stolen or counterfeit, and that it isn't on the prohibited list.
3. Trades are final
A completed trade cannot be reversed by either party. All items and dollars move in a single transaction — there is no partial state. Disputes about condition go through our reports process, not by unwinding the trade.
4. Valuation
Estimated values are our good-faith opinion, set by staff and informed by completed trades on the platform. They are not appraisals, guarantees, or offers to buy. You are responsible for deciding whether a trade is worth it to you.
5. Storage and aging
Items may be stored for 180 days. After the notice periods described in the aging policy, unclaimed items may be donated or disposed of. You accept this each time you send a box in.
6. Money
Balances are denominated in US dollars and held with a licensed payments provider, not by Swapz directly. Cash-outs require identity verification. Fees are published on the fees page and may change with notice.
7. Prohibited conduct
Don't send prohibited items, misrepresent what you're sending, use the platform to launder money or goods, or manipulate valuations through coordinated trading. Accounts doing any of this can be suspended and items held pending investigation.
8. Liability
We insure items in our custody up to their recorded estimated value. We are not liable for lost opportunity, the outcome of a trade you chose to make, or the accuracy of any estimated value.
9. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time. You'll need to withdraw or trade away any items in the vault first, and cash out any remaining balance.
