Questions
The things people actually ask. If yours isn't here, the policy pages go deeper.
Why would I ship my stuff to you instead of just selling it?
Because after the one shipment, you never ship again. Every trade after that is instant, and you're never waiting on a stranger to mail you something, or arguing about whether it arrived as described. We already looked at it.
Who decides what my item is worth?
Staff set an estimated value at intake, based on condition and what comparable items actually trade for on Swapz. It's a guide for both sides, not a price we enforce — you can trade for whatever you're happy with.
Can I trade something worth more for something worth less?
Yes. We show both sides' totals so nobody's confused, but we don't block uneven trades. Sometimes you just want the thing.
What happens if someone accepts my offer while I'm offering the same item to someone else?
That can't happen. The moment an item goes into an offer it's locked and can't be added to another one until that offer resolves. It's the whole reason the vault model works.
What if a trade fails halfway through?
It doesn't. Everything moves in one transaction — all the items, all the dollars, or none of it. There's no state where you've given something up and not received the other side.
What happens after 180 days?
You get warnings at 30 and 7 days out. At the limit you can pay for return shipping, pay $1.99/month to extend, or the item is donated or responsibly disposed of. Full aging policy.
Does trading reset that clock?
Yes, completely. A new owner gets a full fresh term. An item that keeps moving never ages out — which is the behaviour we want.
Is the balance real money?
Yes — US dollars, not points or a token. You can add funds, receive dollars in trades, and cash out to your bank. Cashing out requires identity verification.
What can't I send in?
Weapons, hazardous materials, perishables, recalled products, counterfeits, anything requiring refrigeration, and bulky goods like furniture, mini fridges and bikes. Full list.
What if an item isn't in the condition it was graded at?
Report it from the item page. Every item was photographed and graded by us, so there's a record to check against — that's the advantage of us holding it rather than a stranger describing it.
Can I get my things back?
Any time. Pick what you want from the withdrawals page, pay $8.99 for the box, and we pack and ship it.
Is there a minimum value?
$15 for a single item. Below that we can still take it, but only as part of a bundle with other things — the handling cost on a single low-value item is more than the item is worth.
